Airware Powers Self-Service Check-In Expansion at Milan Bergamo Airport
Milan Bergamo Airport has taken a major leap forward in its digital transformation journey, launching a suite of state-of-the-art self-service bag drop and tagging appliances

As part of a €41 million investment in digital infrastructure, the airport has unveiled 15 new bag tag appliances and 12 bag drop units, allowing passengers to check in luggage quickly and autonomously. The upgrade is aimed at significantly improving the passenger experience while optimising operational efficiency for airport staff.
The launch event was presided over by Airport President Giovanni Sanga, who emphasised the importance of technological innovation in redefining modern air travel. “This initiative is part of our broader mission to enhance comfort, convenience, and operational performance,” Sanga stated during the ceremony.
Airware Solutions played a key role in delivering this transformation, supplying the core technologies that power the new check-in infrastructure. “We’re honoured to be part of such a forward-thinking initiative,” said a representative from Airware. “Milan Bergamo is setting new standards for digital efficiency, and we’re proud our technology is helping to lead the way.”
This project places Milan Bergamo Airport at the forefront of Italy’s aviation innovation landscape, reinforcing its position as a leader in smart airport development.
